Should I book a free consultation, or tattoo appointment?
The answer depends on what your needs are for an appointment.
Here is the difference between both appointment types:
• A consultation appointment is a discussion to explore your idea, answer questions, and plan the best design. It is dialogue-based in comparison to any practical work like tattooing on your body. No tattooing happens during this time. A consultation is not required before booking a tattoo appointment.
• A tattoo appointment includes a consultation and design planning aswell – but with additionally focusing on the physical tattoo creation, and guarantee the tattoo will be done on the scheduled day.
Can I schedule a free consultation before booking an appointment?
Yes! I offer free 30-minute consultations in person at Hon Tattoo (North York, Toronto) or online via Instagram video call. Consultations are not mandatory to have before booking an tattoo appointment.
How much will my tattoo cost?
I charge a one time flat rate per tattoo, not an hourly rate.
An approximate estimate will be given 1-3 days after I receive your inquiry form.
In order to finalize securing an *tattoo appointment date for us – a deposit will be required before coming in on your actual appointment day.
The cost of a tattoo depends on:
- Design complexity

Do you require a deposit Before booking an appointment?
*For a free consultation – a deposit is not required.
*For a tattoo appointment, a deposit is required to secure your * tattoo appointment date.

Deposits are a standard requirement in the tattoo industry. It is required to cover the time, effort, energy that an artist takes to create your design, browse inspiration for it etc, and covers station setup costs.
is the deposit refundable?
The deposit is non-refundable, regardless of the circumstance.
Can I see my tattoo design before our appointment?
I do not show designs before the day of our appointment, as this is a common industry practice.
It is really important to include in your inquiry form all of the tattoo details , and to keep me updated of any small changes that may come to mind at any time before the appointment. At our appointment, we will have a time frame reserved for making any adjustments if you would like to.
it's my first time getting a tattoo! Will it hurt?
Pain levels are truly different for every person, and depend on factors such as:
– How you prepare yourself the day before your appointment
– Your pain tolerance
– Time duration of a session
– Design complexity
Preparation can make a big difference. You’re going to be okay!
As a tattoo artist, I often do people’s first tattoos, and 9/10 times they say it wasn’t as bad as they expected—and they’re already planning their next tattoo while still getting tattoo’ed.
Though tattoo needles may seem intimidating, they’re not like medical needles. Personally, I’m squeamish about blood work, but tattoos don’t bother me. I’d rather get 3 tattoos than ever enduring a leg waxing session ever again.
Many clients share the same sentiment—they’re not fans of needles but find tattooing both tolerable & enjoyable.
I don’t like to assume certain areas are more painful than others, as many people handle tough spots, like ribs or the inner upper arm, with ease. But if you’re considering a tattoo in your inner armpit or knee cap, that might be a different story~
what should I expect at our first tattoo appointment?
Here’s the process when you arrive:
- Fill out a waiver form.
- We will both look at your tattoo design. Make any adjustments if needed.
- Once you approve your design, I’ll cut out your chosen size and place it on your skin to do a size fitting on your body placement.
- I’ll sanitize your skin, print the stencil, and apply it.
- We begin your tattoo.
- Once finished, I’ll take photos and apply a medical-grade bandage.
- I’ll provide aftercare instructions.
What is the Rescheduling/cancellation policy?
If you need to reschedule our appointment, a minimum of 24 hours notice is required.
If you cancel an appointment last minute, your first deposit will not be effective, and a new deposit will be required to secure a new appointment time slot to reschedule.
Deposits are non-refundable.
If you need to reschedule an appointment, please contact me through Instagram direct messages, or email asap.
do you create custom tattoo designs?
Yes, love doing completely custom tattoos 🙂 To inquire for a custom tattoo, please fill out my booking form.
Do you take walk-ins or is it by appointment only?
I do both! If you’re planning a walk-in, please call or message Hon Tattoo Studio ahead of time on the same day to confirm same-day availability.
do you do finger/hand tattoos?
Yes, I do finger and hand tattoos, but please be aware that they come with a higher risk of healing complications, such as ink loss or distortion.
Since we use our hands constantly—washing, driving, muscle stretching etc. —the skin here doesn’t heal as well as other areas. Touch ups for hand/finger tattoos are almost always guaranteed to be needed. Keep this in mind before deciding if you would like to have your tattoo on this placement, or choose a different one.
what is the best way to prepare myself for my tattoo appointment?
How to Prepare for Your Appointment:
- Get a full night’s sleep the night before.
- Eat a good meal 1-2 hours before your appointment.
- Bring some factory-sealed snacks.
- Wear comfortable clothes with easy access to the tattoo area.
- Avoid alcohol at least 24 hours before your appointment.
- Moisturize the tattoo area twice on the day before your appointment.
If you’re feeling unwell 24 hours before your appointment, please let me know.
